NEW! Moura Weir Paddle Guide

Moura is known for rolling out the welcome mat for everyone who comes to town, and paddlers are no exception. There’s a free campground at the boat ramp, plenty of fish in the river, and melaleucas and eucalypts provide shade and beautiful scenery for all Dawson River explorers.

The Paddler's Guide to Moura Weir is the latest guide from Global Paddler. It is available for Global Paddler members to download for free from the QLD Central Regions page of the Global Paddler website.

📍 Dawson River, Cracow Beach

Livistona nitida also known as the, 'Dawson River Cabbage Palm', hug the Dawson River like their lives depend on it! You only have to walk a short distance away from the river and the palms abruptly end. The soil, moisture and climate combine to sustain these tall beauties in the narrowest of bends along the river's edge creating a bird watcher's delight.

Habitat and Distribution includes the catchment of the Dawson, Comet and Burnett Rivers and Carnarvon and Isla Gorge, where they grow along streams and on rocky escarpments and eucalyptus forest's.

From it's earliest days, Theodore was a stopping point for Travellers and same is true today.

A pretty place, Theodore is shaped like a point between the Dawson River and Castle Creek, it's palm lined streets give a tropical feel to the place.

Theodore is an RV Friendly Town.

Expedition National Park is part of the Central Queensland Sandstone Belt.

Divided into three distinct sections - Robinson, Lonesome and Beilba, the park splays out over more than 1000km2, mostly covered by dry eucalypt forest.

Walking tracks are provided in the Robinson Gorge section. The tracks are signposted and are best suited to experienced, well-equipped bushwalkers while some rough, ungraded walking tracks are suitable for fit family groups.
